Announcements
From Wednesday, August 12 to Monday, August 24, 2026, "The Nikkei 150th Anniversary: The Family of Man Exhibition - A Vision of Human Love and Peace, Once Again" (organized by Nikkei Inc.) will be held at Nihombashi Takashimaya S.C. Nomura Medias was in charge of venue construction and other related work for this photo exhibition.
Originating at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York in 1955, "The Family of Man" is a landmark large-scale photography exhibition of the 20th century that toured the world and attracted a cumulative total of over 9 million visitors. In Japan, it was held at Nihombashi Takashimaya in 1956, with NOMURA Co., Ltd. in charge of the venue construction at the time. The exhibition's advanced display techniques drew significant attention and had a major influence on subsequent display design.
The exhibition, consisting of approximately 500 works by a world-renowned photographer, left a strong impression on post-war Japan with its universal theme of "human love and peace." It became a social phenomenon, touring over 20 cities in Japan and attracting a total of about 1 million visitors. Currently, the collection is permanently exhibited at the Clervaux Castle in Luxembourg and was registered as a UNESCO "Memory of the World" in 2003.
This photography exhibition features approximately 115 carefully selected works from the original exhibition, while also incorporating works by a Luxembourgish photographer and photojournalists from Nikkei Inc. as a contemporary response based on its philosophy. This is a precious opportunity to experience once again a historic photography exhibition etched into the history of photography. Please come and visit us.
