Under the theme of delivering a summer retreat experience inspired by Starbucks' own "Hacienda Alsacia" farm in Costa Rica, we were involved from the planning stage and handled a wide range of tasks, including embodying the world view, spatial design, and the production of logos and leaflets.
For the spatial design, we used various textures of paper, including Japanese washi, to recreate Costa Rican flora and fauna through craft-focused paper art. The washi, dyed using traditional techniques like "itajime-zome" (board-clamped dyeing) and "kodai-zome" (ancient dyeing), features vibrant colors and patterns that express the splendor of tropical plants.
Furthermore, we created a calm resort atmosphere using large, substantial frames, cool-looking string tapestries, and rope work.
